Spring 2013 Teacher Training

Join us for our Spring 2013 Teacher Training!

Two days of immersion and study with experts in the field of teaching Yoga in prisons and jails. Join a big-hearted community of yoga teachers and share the power of yoga with youth, women and men behind bars. More than 100 yoga teachers have participated in our inspiring and specialized teacher training program to take their practice out of the studio and into one of the seven facilities we currently serve. kccf_baddhakonasana

Where: Lila Yoga, 2812 E Madison St in Seattle
Instructors: Natalie Cielle (Executive Director) & Cathy Iacobazzi (Director of Training). With special guests Nova Guthrie & Marshall Reinsch
Cost: $100 (for friends of YBB, $15/month supporters) or $125

What: Two days of immersion and study with experts in the field of teaching Yoga in prisons and jails. You will receive a 65 page manual, 10 hours of training (count for continuing education for Yoga Alliance), and a chance to meet amazing men and women in your community.

REEL GRRLS Features Yoga Behind Bars

In this video, Reel Grrls Productions introduces us to several Yoga Behind Bars students who share their personal journey of self-awareness. Sunday, Sept. 2nd, 9-10:30am all levels vinyasa flow with live music from Surya Chandra, by donation all proceed to benefit Yoga behind Bars.

SuryaChandra (the Sun and the Moon) is a spiritual world music ensemble that explores sounds, visuals, lyrics and movements from various languages, cultures and spiritual traditions across the planet. SuryaChandra offers a colourful spiritual journey and a taste of the infinite ways of connecting with the Universal.

Yoga Behind Bars Teacher Training

Come learn and share with the Yoga Behind Bars volunteer teacher community. Are you a current YBB teacher who wants to tap into the incredible resources brewing among your peers? Are you interested in learning more about becoming a volunteer teacher? Join us! After getting lots of feedback that the training needed to expand to two days, we finally did it. Here are the details:

YBB Teacher Training
March 31st & April 1st
at Lila Yoga in Madison park

Cost: $100; all proceeds to Yoga Behind Bars
(Scholarships and Sponsorships available)

The following is included:

• a newly updated manual with example classes and tips
• in-depth program information
• lessons learned from our veterans in the field
• presentation from a formerly incarcerated yoga practitioner
• anti-burnout strategies for sustained joyful service
• real-world examples and techniques for teaching vulnerable populations
• personalized feedback for your teaching
• boundary training

When you become a teacher for Yoga Behind Bars, you join a growing force in your community creating social change from within. We’re really looking forward to this!
