When you teach for Yoga Behind Bars, you build a bridge between two worlds. It is an experience that will change your life and the lives of your students.


What it takes

Prerequisites for teaching behind bars:


  • – Be a Yoga Alliance certified 200-hour Teacher or equivalent experience.
  • – Attend our two-day training (it will rock your world).
  • – 2-year commitment to teaching. This┬ácan look a variety of ways, from teaching once a month to several times per month. The majority of our volunteer staff ┬áteach every other week at one facility.
Teaching yoga in a prison environment is undeniably challenging and also incredibly rewarding. Because of this, we encourage applicants who have a high level of commitment, skill, and capacity for compassion.

Our next teacher training will be April 11+12 2015 at Laughing Buddha in Mill Creek, WA.
